I strongly believe that each person that walks this earth has their own unique purpose. Each of us has a unique set of talents and challenges that combine to create our purpose. Each of has something that we can do better than anyone else – a gift to share with the world. If we do not follow our heart and sing our song, then not only does the individual suffer as a result, but so does the collective. We must each contribute what we have in our hearts to benefit everyone.
While I strongly believe this, the concept really feeds into the idea of separation and specialness. I have come to understand that we are all one and it is the illusion of separation that is at the root of fear, struggle, shame, guilt, worry, and discomfort. So how can we all be one and have a unique gift to bring into the world?
Is everyone’s purpose is the same? I feel that on some level the purpose of life is to learn to love – love fully and completely in every moment. Through love and service to one another we find freedom, peace, and happiness. Love is the ticket to salvation.
Is it possible that we each have a unique method of sharing our love? Is it possible that we have a seemingly unique purpose that is actually intertwined with the divine purpose in all of us? Is it possible that we each have a different expression of serving and loving the people with whom we are sharing this life experience?
Perhaps in this life we have each chosen our own unique tool that has a special power unlike anyone else’s tool. We can then use that tool to deepen our divinity and serve everyone in the name of love. Or we can use that tool to strengthen the separation and affirm our own specialness in the name of self-interest. Maybe all we need to do is act in love and the rest will take care of itself.
What are your thoughts on life purpose? Does everyone have a purpose? Is it unique to them? Does each person have just one purpose or is it possible to have many? If you have any thoughts on this please let me know – I would love a broader perspective on this topic.
