How many things do you do throughout the day that you don’t think about at all? How much of your life is spent without actually experiencing the moment? Life is so abundant and beautiful yet we are too busy reliving the past or trying to predict the future that we miss all of the little miracles that unfold in our lives. We miss the opportunity to really experience the richness of our experience.
Do you stop to savor each bite off food or do you shovel your dinner down in front of a screen without ever tasting it? Do you feel the wind on your face when you step outside or do you just scurry to your car to get where you’re going? Do you feel the essence of another as you shake their hand or are you caught up in your head worrying about what they will think of you?
That’s actually a perfect example. We become stressed by worrying about how others will perceive us. Did you ever stop to think that they are doing the same thing? If they are as worried as you are, chances are good they aren’t even noticing you just like you aren’t noticing them. How different would our relations with others be if both parties were present in the conversation and experiencing the wonder and joy of exchange?
I am taking up the challenge to experience my life. I am going to use all of my senses to rejoice in the moment. I am going to let go of the chatter in my head that takes me out of the moment. I am going to follow the lead of my dog and stop to investigate every little thing along my path. I am going to follow my heart.
Join me by taking up the challenge to experience your life. Whenever you remember, slow down and taste the moment. Check in with your heart and see how you feel. Become aware.
