When you wake up in the morning what is the first thing that starts racing through your mind?
If you are like most people I know, it doesn’t take long for you to start thinking about all of the things that you need to do today. You think about what you want to accomplish, the meetings and appointments that are scheduled, and all of the things that you need to remember to get done. You might also start re-hashing yesterday’s events and pick up on the internal dialogue that you fell asleep with. And with all of that buzzing around in your head you roll out of bed and step into your daily routine.
What does all of this mental chatter do for you? All of your to-do lists certainly help you to make a living, but do the help you to make a life? Where is your heart and soul in all of this? Where are your dreams and desires? Is this helping you to consciously create the life you want? Or are you just in a pattern that may or may not lead you to the things that you want in life?
What if you could interject a simple fifteen minute process into the buzz of your morning? Could you make time for your soul every morning as part of your daily routine? You make time to brush your teeth, take a shower, and eat breakfast. If you are like me, you would never forget to take the dog out and feed her. These are all part of the natural pattern of our lives. Why not carve out time for your soul every morning before you rush off to all of your other responsibilities?
If you take a moment to meditate and set daily intentions, then you can give your day a super boost in productivity. Living Soulful means that you stay heart-centered throughout the motions of your life. How can you hope to stay in your heart throughout the day if you start your day in your head?
Consciously create the life you want by making a commitment each day to honor your heart and soul. Just as you care for your body, take the time to honor your heart. Your desires are worth fifteen minutes in the morning.
